Thank you for believing in us!From the beginning, we knew that an independent organization dedicated to arts and humanities is practically utopist, in any place around this world. That in Latin America, still called the “third world”, there are other priorities. Who would contribute to arts and research when there is violence, malnutrition and other vital issues? So in our history, of 10 years working together, 6 legally constituted as a foundation, we have counted on very little financial support and plenty of human resource. The support of friends, individuals as well as fellow organizations, governmental or independent, who share our vision and have seen our project grow in time. In 2015, we tried a new experience, developing a donation campaign, uncertain of its possibilities (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/bordes-conference-festival) We were pleasantly surprised to realize that we are not the only ones who believe in what we do, and that we can let the world know about it through this site, reaching out, establishing networks and creating bonds for mutual cooperation. As a team, we pride in sharing results we have obtained with hard work, dedication and the generous support of many people. Where do donations go? Thanks to donations received in 2015, not only did we finance the 6th edition of our Bordes Seminar. We are still working with these resources, upholding our permanent activities, included in our mission: Website for divulgation in art and humanities Cinema forums (every week) Workshops Academic Journal in Cultural Studies Research projects in arts and humanities Short film festival (annual) Our BORDES Seminar (annual) We have confirmed that precisely during the hardest of times, we must persevere and continue working non-stop. That arts and humanities are important indeed, and even if we cannot change the whole world, we can make a difference in our range of influence. Where are we heading? In BORDES Cultural Foundation we intend to constitute a reference of continuous significant learning, bringing diverse people together through art and cultura. The evolution of our cinema fórums toward a Diplomated Course in Sthetics and Cinema Appreciation; the publition of BORDES in paper, a series of working booklets for students and general public, plus keeping our Academic Journal online and our website as a cultural magazine; the institution of an experimental workshop in visual arts; audiovisual production; are some of our recent developments, which we expect to consolidate in 2017. We must highlight our pride in the human resource we have delivered to our communitt and society in general: young students, once volunteers in BORDES, have become professional researchers and passionate cultural promoters. Thanks to their own merits, of course, but knowing that we have at least a small part in their education, confirms our evolution as a place of learning. Not a center but a space, an alternative and experimental but systematic and continuous workshop, granting meaningful experiences to all who freely participate. The confidence given by these results and the need to rise above Venezuelans economic situation, inspire us to continue working with all means at reach, to strengthen our activities and keep on developing new projects. We no longer doubt that more friends will come along and help support our cause.
